Today is an exciting day for Pindrop and our customers. This morning we announced a $75 million series C investment that is being led by Google Capital with participation from Google Ventures. IVP, Andreessen Horowitz, Felicis and Citi Ventures also contributed to the round. Partnering with Google Capital in this way was an opportunity we could not pass on, as they are a great strategic fit for our business. Gene Frantz from Google Capital will be joining as a board observer. Gene has a wonderful eye toward helping companies scale and his involvement will surely help in our next phase of hypergrowth.
The world is moving toward a future where voice will become the de facto interface, with a whole slew of new voice enabled IoT devices. Smart homes, connected cars and personal assistants are all becoming voice enabled and require feature rich user interfaces to fit their ever shrinking form factors. Pindrop is positioned to be the provider of trust, identity and security in this voice-enabled world.
Today’s investment will allow us to take on newer products and continue to hire great talent. The funding also will allow us to continue expanding globally to help our current and prospective customers fight phone fraud all around the globe. Three of the four largest banks in the United States, as well as insurance companies, government agencies, and retail companies now use Pindrop to verify customers and detect fraudsters. We have tripled revenue numbers and doubled our customer base in the last year alone. Across this customer base we are protecting 360 million calls every year, stopping the fraudsters from accessing retirement savings, life insurance policies, and college tuition funds.
